Honeys
The final phase of our nursery is the Honey Bee Pre-School room
for three to five
year olds. Children in this room will follow the National Curriculum.
Exploring and
experimenting through play, art and music to develop language,
numeracy, literacy
and reasoning. Reading, writing and maths will all be incorporated
in their daily routine.
Other subjects include Swimming.
All their work will be recorded in their progress files, which
parents will have daily access to.

Foundation Stage curriculum
The Foundation Stage is the first part of the National Curriculum
focusing
on the distinct needs of children aged three to the end of the
reception year in primary school.
The Foundation Stage has six areas of learning. These are:
- personal,
social and emotional development
- communication,
language and literacy
- mathematical
development
- knowledge
and understanding of the world
- physical
development
- creative
development

Each area of learning has early learning goals. These set out
the skills, understanding,
knowledge and attitudes which is hoped children will reach or
exceed by the end of the
Foundation Stage (end of reception year at primary school).
Each child's progress towards reaching the early learning goals
is
recorded in their individual profiles. These profiles are then
used by the
Honey room staff for planning activities and experiences for
the
children and then sent on to primary school when the children
move on.
Three and four year old funding
From April 2004 all three and four year olds will receive grant
funding.
A child becomes eligible the term after their third birthday.
Each child is entitiled to five sessions of two and a half hours
a week for
at least eleven weeks a term (33 weeks a year). The scheme is
funded by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) which
pay us directly. We then forward monies on.
